Machine highlights
-
Intuitive airflow
Your machine senses when hair is between the arms and automatically drops to low airflow when it's not – for quieter, more efficient styling.
-
LCD screen
High-definition colour display shows airflow and temperature settings, for easy reference when styling.
-
Lock feature
Slide the button to lock and unlock the arms of your machine. Use with the arms locked to gently pre-dry hair and create volume from the roots.
-
Auto pause
After three seconds of inactivity your machine will automatically pause. Simply move the machine to restart airflow.
Pioneering Dyson technology
No hot plates. No heat damage.1
Our latest hair care technology uses high-pressure airflow to straighten hair as it dries. Air is precisely heated and projected evenly through the tress as you style – with no need for extreme heat.1
Airflow to smooth and align
Airflow is projected downwards at a 45° angle to create the tension needed to align hair for a smooth end style – with less damage and breakage.2
Intelligent heat control
Glass bead thermistors, located in the machine arms, regulate airflow temperature up to 16 times per second, to prevent extreme heat damage and protect hair’s natural shine.
Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor
A 13-blade impeller spins up to 106,000rpm, propelling 11.9 litres of air through the machine per second. This generates up to 3.6kPa of air pressure, powerful enough to straighten hair as it dries.
-
Style reset
When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to 'reset'. Using a combination of moisture and airflow, hair can be styled effectively – with no heat damage.1
-
The science of shine
Using lower temperature and resetting the hair’s bonds from wet mean its internal structure is protected, so it can reflect more light, for a shiny finish.
More than a plug
The PRCD plug (Portable Residual Current Device) is engineered for your safety when using the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener.
Dyson engineers designed the plug to include key electronic elements in it. By moving this to the plug, it removed weight and bulk from the machine itself.
-
Why this appliance needs a PRCD
The straightener’s powerful air drying technology for wet to dry use requires a PRCD plug to test the electrical current for safety. Such plugs are on a variety of electrical appliances, particularly in proximity to water or water vapour.
-
What this means for your styling routine
For your safety, press TEST and RESET every time before you use your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. See the step-by-step instructions in our user guide.
Products to prime and define your styles
Pre-style cream and Post-style serum, developed for flexible hold.
One powerful key ingredient, in two product textures. We developed our styling products with chitosan to create flexible hold solutions for every routine. Use individually or together, to extend your styles with natural movement, softness and shine.
-
Pre-style cream
A rich cream-to-serum texture. Use on damp, towel-dried hair, before styling, to lock in flexible hold. Available in four variants.
-
Post-style serum
A weightless serum. Use on your end style to smooth, enhance and define. For all hair types.
Frequently asked questions
Although the machines are designed for different styling purposes, both utilise Hair care technology to minimise heat damage. The Dyson Corrale™ straightener is engineered with manganese copper alloy plates to flex around and gather the hair while heating, creating either sleek, smooth styles or bouncy curls. The Dyson Airstrait™ straightener uses powerful, directional airflow to provide a natural straight style from wet to dry without the need for extreme heat.
The Airstrait™ can be used to dry and style hair from wet – simply set the machine to Wet mode and select from a pre-set temperature; thicker hair types may require a higher temperature and airflow. Alternatively, Dry mode – which applies lower airflow – can be used to refresh dry hairstyles.
When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to 'reset'. Dyson engineers have used this knowledge to design the Airstrait™ with high-velocity blades at a 45-degree downward angle to simultaneously dry and style hair – without extreme heat.2
Yes, you can use the Dyson Airstrait™ to touch-up and refresh your style from dry. To use on dry hair, select Dry mode and choose between the pre-set temperatures, depending on your hair type and intended style.
Your Dyson Airstrait™ will enter auto-standby after five minutes of inactivity when the arms are left open, or three minutes if the arms are locked. The LCD screen will turn off and you'll need to press the power button to turn the machine back on.
Your straightener has been precisely engineered for styling at the voltage of the country in which it was purchased. This allows it to run at optimum performance. As voltage varies from country to country, please follow the guidance on usage in the guarantee section of your user manual.
To maintain optimum performance, your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener needs regular care and maintenance. We recommend cleaning the filter once a month. Debris should be wiped from the outer filter cage and from the inner filter mesh using a soft, dry cloth.
Yes, we recommend regular cleaning of your machine for optimum performance. You can find detailed instructions on how to clean and deep-clean your filter, tension bars and diffusers in your online user guide, on our Support pages or on your MyDyson™ app.
This is an additional safety element, designed especially for the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener given its powerful and direct wet-to-dry function.
H 71mm x L 150mm x W 41mm and 310g without the cable and 457g with the cable.
Yes, the PRCD plug is a fixed integral part of the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. If travelling, check the voltage of the country matches that of your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. You can find the voltage for your appliance in your user manual.
Engineered by Dyson to keep you safe when using your machine, the PRCD plug not only tests your electrical current, it also houses other crucial electronic elements which would otherwise have to sit in the machine itself. So, while the plug is larger than a traditional plug, the different components within it are currently the best solution to provide a lightweight, compact machine for comfortable styling, wet to dry.

Dyson Airstrait™ straightener (Blue/Copper) Reviews
Reviewed on 28/6/2024Rating:5% of 100Where has this been all my life?!!!!
JazzI am someone who has a lot of hair… and to top it off, it’s also curly! Straightening my hair has never been fun, it’s always been so time consuming and I’d find myself ...
Read More regretting my decision whenever I’ve begun to straighten it… but this… this is an absolute GAME CHANGER!!! In less than half an hour I had perfectly straight, frizz free hair!!! I am absolutely amazed with this product. The only thing I would change is potentially try and make it lighter? It became heavy in the hand after a while. But thank you so much Dyson for creating a product that makes my hair wash day just that little bit easier!! I will be recommending this product to all my friends who have curly hair!
