We made a straightener that uses air, not hot plates
Two styling modes to straighten from wet or dry hair.

No hot plates.
No heat damage.2

Our latest Hair care technology uses high-pressure airflow instead of hot plates, to straighten hair as it dries. Air is precisely heated and projected evenly as you style – protecting your hair from heat damage.2

How directional airflow
smooths and aligns hair

Airflow is projected downwards at a 45° angle to create the tension needed to align hair for a smooth end style – with less damage and breakage.3 You can also lock the arms to gently pre-dry roots before styling the ends of the hair from wet.

Inside the machine

  • A detailed cutaway view of the inside of the Dyson Airstrait straightener, showing the heating system.

    Intelligent heat control

Using the same technology found in Dyson Airwrap™ and Dyson Supersonic™, the Dyson Airstrait™ measures temperature 16 times per second, to prevent heat damage and protect hair’s natural shine.

  • A side-on view of the Hyperdymium motor, with airflow visualised in bright blue.

    Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor

A small, powerful motor spins up to 106,000rpm, propelling 11.9 litres of air through the machine per second. This generates a controlled, high pressure airflow, powerful enough to straighten hair as it dries - without hot plates.

Why style from wet?

  • A close-up of damaged hair strands, with water droplets attached.

    Style reset

When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to 'reset'. Using a combination of moisture and airflow, hair can be styled effectively – without extreme heat.2

  • A close-up of shiny, healthy-looking brunette hair.

    The science of shine

Using lower temperatures and resetting the hair's bonds from wet mean its internal structure is protected, maintaining natural shine, and doesn't leave your hair feeling dry.

Engineered to maintain hair strength4

Maintain strength.4 Protect shine.3 Our latest hair care innovation combines our expertise in airflow with everything we've learned about hair styling to pioneer a new way to straighten – without heat damage or hot plates.2
